The Boathouse

Corpus Christi College Boat Club operates from the historic Old Combined boathouse, which it shares with the boat clubs of Sidney Sussex, Girton and Wolfson colleges along the River Cam. This shared facility houses our fleet of modern carbon fibre boats, distinguished by their maroon blades with vertical white stripes that match our club colours. The boathouse serves as the operational base for our crews, typically accommodating 2-3 men’s and 2-3 women’s boats for training and competition preparation. As home to a club founded in 1828, the boathouse connects our current rowers to nearly two centuries of Corpus rowing heritage. Despite being one of the smallest colleges in Cambridge, the shared boathouse allows Corpus to maintain competitive crews while fostering the collaborative spirit that defines college rowing on the Cam.

Tim Rhodes – Boatman

Tim Rhodes has served as Corpus Christi College Boat Club’s boatman for thirty years, bringing extensive expertise in fleet maintenance and crew development to the college’s rowing programme. His commitment extends well beyond equipment care, as he advises crews, repairs boats, manages the boathouse, and supports teams at competitions and training camps across the country and overseas. As Tim notes, “The fortunes of the Boat Club rise and fall as the years go by, but I’d like to think that my commitment to them and the boats they row in never wavers.” His three decades of experience and steady guidance continue to be integral to CCCBC’s operations and the development of Corpus rowers.
